Dental implants in Mexicali

A dental implant is a titanium post that replaces the root of a missing tooth. It holds a crown, a bridge or a full arch, fixed and matched to your teeth. With Dr. Carlos Cota, an oral rehabilitation specialist, the implant is planned from the final result: first how your teeth will look, then where each implant goes.

Dr. Cota explains how an implant is planned (in Spanish)

Which implant do you need?

How we work

  1. First visit. Clinical exam and intraoral scan.
  2. 3D CT scan. Shows the bone where the implant goes and gives the exact size you need.
  3. Planning and simulation. Your case is projected in 3D before surgery. You get a written plan.
  4. Guided surgery. The implant is placed following that plan, with minimal margin of error. For long procedures, the team anesthesiologist is with you.
  5. Temporary teeth and healing. While the implant fuses with the bone you wear temporary teeth; for a full arch, usually 4 to 6 months.
  6. Final teeth. A prototype is tried in, the shade is chosen and the final prosthesis is placed.

Coming from the US

Treatment happens in stages: implant placement, healing and final teeth. At your consultation we give you, in writing, how many visits you need and how far apart, so you can plan your border crossings. The office is in Colonia Libertad, a few minutes from the border crossing.

Frequently asked questions

Does getting an implant hurt?

It is done under local anesthesia. For long procedures, like a full arch, the team anesthesiologist keeps you comfortable and pain-free. Discomfort in the following days is managed with medication.

How long does an implant take from start to finish?

It depends on the case. The implant needs to heal before the final teeth; for a full arch with temporary teeth, usually 4 to 6 months. At your consultation we give you your timeline in writing.

How do you know which implant I need?

With an intraoral scan and a 3D CT scan. The case is simulated on those images and the exact implant size is chosen before surgery.

How much does an implant cost?

Dental implants start at $12,000 MXN (approx. US$700). The total depends on the number of implants and the type of prosthesis; you get the exact cost in writing after your consultation.
